Shelley Barton

I was raised on a family farm in Waldron, Indiana surrounded by corn and soybean fields, sheep and cattle grazing in the pasture, and tractors and combines chugging about.  It was there that I learned the value of hard work and the satisfaction that comes from a job well done.  My father, mother and brother are some of the hardest-working people I’ve ever known.

My life has been truly blessed with a wonderful family.  I married John Barton in January, 2000.  He is a man of integrity and I am so thankful for him.  I have three adult children – Eric, Christin and Bill – whom I’m very proud of.  Our family is close and we love to spend time together as much as possible.

After college, I moved to Shelbyville and worked in the accounting field until I moved to Greensburg in 1985.  At that time, I began working as a drive-thru teller at Union Bank & Trust.  I soon moved inside to the main teller line then upstairs into the accounting department and finally to the wealth management department.  After about 8 years there, I received my insurance license in personal lines and went to work for Witkemper Insurance.  Although I enjoyed my co-workers and our insurance customers, I missed accounting so after five years there I accepted an offer to return to the wealth management department at the bank which had since changed to MainSource Bank and remained there for about five years.  The next 13 years, I worked for our three local newspapers (Greensburg, Batesville and Rushville) as the accounting and human resources manager until being placed on COVID-19 furlough.  During the furlough and with my husband’s encouragement, I decided to do something I have always dreamt of doing but never had the time or opportunity – to finally pursue a career in real estate.

Anyone that knows me well knows that I’ve always had a passion for renovating homes.  I absolutely love the transformation that something as simple as a carefully chosen paint color and new flooring can make to a space.  And I really enjoy taking a mess and organizing it.  You just can’t beat the feeling that comes when you finish a decorating or organizational project then step back to look at the results.  It’s so rewarding!

If you or someone you know is considering buying or selling property, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.  I would love to work with you!
